Lughnassadh photos

On the weekend I was invited to a celebration of families, friends, and members of the Beltane Fire Society. It took place in a beautiful spot in the countryside near to Biggar, on a meadow bordered by the Clyde.

It was warm enough to swim in the river, and after much fun and feasting, there were more serious and solemn events to mark Lammas, or Lughnassadh, a pagan ritual marking the mid-point between summer and winter.

Here are some of the images I and my girlfriend took during the night, including some incredible photos of body painting and a fire labyrinth.
