The NATO Parliamentary Assembly – Day 1

Here’s my report for Free Speech Radio News on the first day of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which featured a small and unsuccessful attempt at direct action.

The 55th NATO Parliamentary Assembly began in Edinburgh today.  Hundreds of delegates from the legislatures of NATO members attended, as well as representatives from countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan – countries high on the political agenda.

The assembly is billed as an annual opportunity for democratically elected representatives to have input into NATO’s broad strategic goals. But not everyone is welcoming them to the Scottish capital. Tom Allan reports.
